Pamela L. Rudolph

Pamela Lynne Rudolph was the second child born to the union of Amos and Sylvia Lewis Rudolph. Her life began in Augusta, Georgia, on December 18, 1963. She exchanged this temporal life for eternal life on November 22, 2011. She lived in Savannah, Georgia, from 1976 until her passing. During her early teen years, Pamela confessed Christ and was baptized in Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church by the Reverend Dr. D. C. Grant. Her early education began in Killeen, Texas, then in Karlsruhe, West Germany. In Savannah, Georgia she was educated in the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools, attending Bartlett Middle School. She graduated from Thompkins High School in the class of 1981. She furthered her education at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia earning a Bachelor's degree in psychology. At Mercer University, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Continuing her education, she enrolled at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, where she graduated in 1992 with a Master's degree in social work. After graduating, she worked as a counselor for Savannah Home for Girls. Following that position, she worked with the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services as a caseworker. Finally, she retired as a social worker with the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. Despite having a progressive and debilitating illness, Pamela was active in the Martin de Porres Society, where she served on the executive committee. In Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society; the Senior Usher Board; Secretary for the Christian Education Department; for one conference year she directed the Young People's Division of the Women's Missionary Society; she was a member of the Elise Freeman Stewardess Board; she sang with the Voices of Joy choir; and she actively participated in the Bible Study class; on a rotating basis with other members, she often taught the class. Regularly she attended Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), an interdenominational women's Bible study class. In BSF and in Bethel's Bible study, the members recognized her as being insightful and knowledgeable in interpreting God's Word. One of her admirable achievements came in 2007 when she was crowned the Queen of the Women's Missionary Society for the Georgia Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Her twin brother, Patrick L. Rudolph, preceded her in death. Cherishing her memory are her parents Amos and Sylvia A. Rudolph; a brother, Derrick L. Rudolph, Denver Colorado; and a sister-in-law, Nedra Rudolph of Denver, Colorado; one nephew Corey A. Rudolph and Kaya M. Rudolph of Denver, Colorado; and Carynn A. Rudolph of Jacksonville, North Carolina; two aunts, Mrs. Catherine Johnson of Franklin, Tennessee, Mattie (John) Dean of Mobile, Alabama; two uncles, Claude H. Lewis, Jr. (Leola) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Oliver Lewis of Mobile, Alabama; her loyal pet Wilson, and a host of devoted colleagues, friends, cousins, and many other relatives. Funeral service will be held 12 pm Friday, December 2, 2011 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1814 E. 38th Street, Rev. Charles W. Purnell officiating. Interment: magnolia Cemetery. Reposing at the church Friday 10 am until hour of service.
